4 ON THE EAST COAST IN JANUARY Referring io January weather, Mr. A. T. Ngata, M.P., said that the rainfall experienced on the East Coast during the past month could not be measured bv inches, as it fell in feet. It was one of the wettest Januarvs ever known in tho district. Tliev were well over their shearing before the wet weather came on, but one bad effect' of the lush, moistureladen growth of grass which had come on at a time when the pastures were, as a rule, brown and hard, was backwardness on the part of the lambs.
