MISHAP TO THE LAUNCH WHITE ROSE

Mr. N. H. Jack writes: —“I desire to correct some of tho statements appearing in your local of February 0 re my launch White Rose being in difficulties last night. In the firstplace it would appear that the petrol supply running, out was due to gegh(XHiice. This whs not so; tho tank had been filled a few days previously, and th-e whole trouble was due to’tho contemptible action of the party who (jumped the benzine from the tank while the boat was on the slip. It was not- useless, as stated, to put out the anchor. This was done, and was all that saved the launch from going ashore. .After dropping the anclior and lotting out 30 fat-horns of line, Mr. Pethcrick and myself got into the dinghy and made for the shore in order to jjet n lounoh io tow us in. We knew that wo must capsize in the surf, arid that we had no possibility of getting out with benzine that way. Messrs. Vebb and Quinnell mado a very smart appearance on hearing of my trouble, and are to bo complimented on thengood work in a difficult situation, and I wisii to thank and compliment them.”
