WINDMILLS, ANCIENT AND MODERN
Being one of the most ancient of energy sources, the windmill has tended to bn neglected during recent generations in Great Britain, where steam power and electric power have naturally the chief attention of progressive engineers. Nevertheless, there remains a diold for the windmill, especially in' isolated places where winds are frequent and a demand for small power exists. Accordingly the British Ministry of Agriculture has arranged to make tests of tho possibilities of modern types of windmill as a means of supplying power on farms. Those tests' will cover a period of at, least six months, and British windmills will be used in a senes of Joint wind and electrical experiments. One result of the tost will be to bring into tho public oye a number of the very interesting improvements which British engineers have made in tho design of windmills, especially for uso in connection with tho generation of electricity.
