THE ARBITRATION RAFT
NEW MOORINGS YESTERDAY WILL SIT HERE IN MARCH The Arbitration Court sat in the Dominion Farmers’ Institute yesterday. Mr. Justice Frazer presided, and other members of the Court were: Messrs. B. L. Hammond (acting-em-ployers’ representative) and M. J< Reardon (employees’ representative). Mr. Justice Frazer drew attention to yet another of the Court’s peripatetic pilgrimages in search of a rest-ing-place. The Supreme Court, ho said, would be fully engaged for a month, and the Magistrate’s Court was also in requisition. The present meeting would be merely in the nature of a fixtures sitting. The Court would then proceed to the country districts, and would return here probably in about five weeks’ time, when perhaps accommodation would be available. As other cases would probably mature in the interim, the city sitting would have a chance to clear up everything. Representatives of both sides in a number! of trades were present.
His Honour announced the date of the Wellington sitting as March 12. of other sittings would be approximately: Wanganui, February 7; New Plymouth, February 9; Palmerston North, February 14; Gisborne, February 16: Napier, February 19; Greymouth, February 26; Reofton, February 28; Westport, February 29 or 30; Nelson, March 5; Blenheim, March 7 or 9. Unfinished country disputes might receive attention for a couple of days as the Court passed .through Wellington on its way south. Disputes set down for the March sitting are': Wellington City Tramways and Power House employees, Wellington motal workers, an application by Mrs. Copeland to be struck out of the award of the Wellington pastry cooks on the ground that she ran a homemade cake shop, and the journalists, storemen, cooks and stewards, saddlers, and stage and theatrical employees.
