ANOTHER STEP FORWARD Much has been done recently to foster better relationship and brisker trade between the different Dominions. Advice is now li<xnd tlmt tlic Cnnadian Government merchant marine has definitely decided upon a regular monthly service to New Zealand from Halifax, or in the summer from Montreal. Tho ships will come direct via. Panama, to Auckland. In the past cargo was discharged at Australia and then at New Zealand. This was most unsatisfacotry on account of the irregular service and the uncertainty or arrval dates. Oftentimes a boat was unavoidably and for various reasons held un in Australia. The first ship to commence running in this new time-table will be the Canadian Seigneur, which is to leave Halifax on February 22. The journey to Auckland will occupy six weeks. A monthly service will be maintained. It is proposed that all the cargo lor New Zealand will be discharged Auckland, and the. southern portion will either be railed or transhipped south. The vessel will then go on to Australia to unload there, and then return to New Zealand to load for New York. Boston, and Halifax (m the winter) or Alontreal (in the summer«- ____
