WELCOME REDUCTION A_dvices from Auckland state that reductions in passenger fares from Sydney and from AVelhngton mid Auckland to the United. Kingdom, via America, will come into force this month on both the Vancouver and San Francisco mail services, the last vessel sailing under the old rates being the Roval Alail steamer Alaunganui, which left Svdnev for San Francisco on January 11 Pl lo first vessel on which the ‘new rates will apply is tlie. Royal Alail steamer Alakura, which is to l^ a '® Sydney on January 25. For both lines,‘via San Francisco or via Vancouver. the new rates to England from Svdnev will be:—First saloon, £125; second' saloon, £B9. From AVellmg and Auckland, the reduced fares will ], O —First saloon. £ll3 ; second saloon, £BO. The fares to San Francisco and Vancouver are not affected.
