BIG BREAKS IN ENGLISH MATCHES.

London, January 20. Big breaks were features of this week’s continuation of the billiard matches; Newman v. Inman and Smith v. Falkiner. There were twejity-two breaks of over 800. Smith scoring 491, 451, 358, 337, 335, 319, and HU 5 Falkiner 549, 508, 489. |344, and 334; Newman 586, 570. 516. 894, 371. 355, and 339; Inman 638, 452, and |354. Newman has scored fifteen breaks of over 500 this season, and Smith has scored thirteen.
Despite Newman’s brilliance bvwhich. he scored 2530 in one. day. against Inman’s 813, Inman maintains his lead, combining unexpectedly high form with safety tactics. The scores are:—lnmnn. 14,146; Newman,. 13,457. Falkiner, after reducing tho gap to 600 fell awav again. Tho scores are: Smith. 14.668< Falkiner, 11 ,(300.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
