ISLAND BAY TRAMS
DUPLICATION COMPLETED
The duplication of the Island Bay tramline at Luxford Street, which was started at the end of November, and has now been completed, was a work necessitating alterations to the shop premises on the corner of Rintoul and Luxford Streets, the building having been converted so as to provide additional road space for tho gradual curve in the tramline. In consequence of this improvement the Tramway Dapartnient will now be able to put any class of tramcar on the Island Bay service, instead of been confined, as before, to the use of only those cars which could negotiate the difficult corner, which was one of tho sharpest bends in the city. Tho duplication of the tracks from Dee Street to thq terminus will be put in hand shortly.
