ELECTION PETITIONS
ARRANGING THE JUDGES BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. Dunedin, January 20. The Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, is at present making arrangements for tl e hearing of the Eden, Waitomo, Western Maori, and Oama.ru election betitvoiis. Ho states that tho three North Island petitions will probably be hei'.rd by Mi • Justice Hosking and Mr. Justice Stringer and the Oamaru petition by Mr. Justice Adams and himself. x The petition lodged by Mr. W. I. Jennings regarding the Waitomo election alleges that certain persons were refused the right to vote by declaration though entitled to do so, and that a number of persons whose names did not appear on the roll were, nwongfully allowed to vote. The petition states that 77 votes should not have been disallowed. A request is made that a scrutiny be ordered for tho recovery of such ‘votes. No charge is made against Mr. J. C. Rolleston, the successful candidate.
