FIGHTING DEPUTIES
ROWDY SCENE IN FRENCH CHAMBER (Rec. January 20, 5.5 p.m.) iParis, January 20. Tho debate in tho Chamber of Deputies on the question of withdrawing Marcel Cachin’s immunity from arrest was very rowdy. When an exchange of abuse between the extremists left and tho right was at its height, M. Barthe, a Socialist, and M. Baron, a Communist, with clenched fists appeared to rise in order to attack the President. Ushers seized them and dragged them from tho steps of the President’s seat. Others joined in the fray until the floor of the Chamber was a whirling mass of struggling and fierhtino- deputies. The President suspended" the sitting, but the fighting continued, M. Lefevre seizing Pnnce Murat bv the collar as Murat felled a Communist. Finally tho ushers were reinforced, and ended the row. Ihe debate was ended by the singing of tho ‘‘Marseillaise” and tho Internationale.”— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
