Air Paul Serre, the Consul-General for France in New Zealand, arrived in' Svdnev on Saturday. AL Serre, who has been in the Consular service for op, vears, is an enthusiastic naturalist.

An'arrival bv tho Ulimaroa yesterday was Dr. Danes, Consul-General for Czecho-Slovakia in Australia wliose term expired on December 31. He is makinn- a prolonged tour around the Pacific" and will then return to Ins chair of geography at the Charles University in Prague. . Vice-Consul Emanuel Rajoy. who will arrive m Svdney from Europe during this month, will succeed Dr. Danes, taking over the charge of the ConsulateGeneral. Mr. Hajny was previously in Australia and left there as a member of the Australian Special Service Battalion, consisting of Czecho-Slovaks and Jugo Slavs, which sailed tor Salonika in 1917. He was later transferred to the Czecho-Sloyak legions in France, where he got his commission. Since the war he has been attached to the presidinl bureau of tho Almistry for Foreign Affairs in Prague. Canon Fairbrother, of Tamworth, (N.S.W.), arrived by the Ulimaroa yesterday on a visit to New Zealand.

While unpacking) a crate of bananas a Sheffield fruiterer found an opossum among the wrappings. The animal must have been there for three or four weeks during transit and cold storage.
