Representatives of London houses which are purchasers of cheese and butter are at present operating in th© Pahiatua district (reports the “Herald”). It is rumoured that one qhoesfo factory directorate jhas declined' on offer of Bd. per lb. for its output. The rapid firming of tils' cheese market at Home is reassuring and the fact that London people are on the lookout for outputs for the whole season is an indication that a good year may be looked for. No offers for butter further than to October have been received by local factories, so for as we can learn, but sales at a very satisfactory figure have been made up to the end of September by at least two factories. Forest friends in. the United States ..have.made a present to France of 700,000 trees, mostly fire, for the reafforestation of the devastated districts.
