STAR BOATING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The 56th annual meeting of the Star Boating Club was held last evening, Mr. J. G. Duncan presiding over a large attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.* 1 -*.. Sixteen new, one active life, and five honorary life members were elected. Mr. A. G. Elder, 'who won this season’s billiards tournament, was presented by the chairman with the trophy, a pocket wallet. It was decided that the question of the purchase of the new maiden four be left in the hands of the incoming committee, with power to act. Mr. A. D. Bayfield, who had held the position of captain for nine successive years, and who again assumed office to replace Mr. Evatt, said he thought the club had “turned the corner” after the war, and was now steadily in the ascendant. Ho, stressed the necessity for rigid training. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as' follow: —President, Sir Francis Bell; vice-president, Mr J. G. Duncan; captain, Mr. A. D. Bayfield; deputy-captain, Mr. W. P. Shorland; secretary, Mr. R. W. Fenton; treasurer, Mr. W. P. McGowan; committee, Messrs. R. L. Evatt, E. JohnMcGrath, W. R. C. Oswin, J. Widdop. F. B. Anvon, E. Diehl, F. G. Ohorn, R. N. Wakelin, A. ‘Whittaker; club race committee, Messrs. D. McGrath, O. W. Thorn, E. J. Dobson; match house committee, Messrs. A. D. Bayfield, W. P. Shorland, W. P. McGrath; club house committee. Messrs. J. R. Bentley, D. Cntley, E. Diehl, A. W. Gordon, R. H. Herd; auditors, Messrs. W. H. Morrah and H. E. Richards: trustees, Sir Francis Bell, Messrs. C. A. Knapp, A. de B. Brandon.
