The final match of the Australian Universities’ League team’s t°ur was played against an improved. Auckland representative team to-day, ana resulted in a win for Auckland by 24 points to 16. The weather was fine and the ground in fair order, though a 'trifle heavy and slippery owing to the recent rain. A largo attendance was rewarded bv a fast and exciting game, in which Auckland showed superior form. In the first spell Auckland was in the ascendant, the forwards following up fast and the backs tackling solidly, which kept the Australians more or less on the defensive. Making the best use of their opportunities, Auckland had scored 16 points to 1 nil at half-time. (The heavy ground and the greasy ball handicapped the Australians, whose crisp passing was crumpled by the tenacious tackling of the opposing forces, and it was not until well on in the second spell that the visitors settled down to their game. They then gave a fine exhibition of crisp and clever passing, which tested the Auckland defence to the final call of time. The visitors scored 16 points by brilliant play. Auckland, however, played soundly, the backs handling well and the forwards following up fast. Scores: Auckland —First spell. Gray (2), Avery, and Wetherall ( scored tries, Davidson converting the two latter; second spell, Avery and Gray crossed the line, Davidson converting the former. Australia —Craig, < Linsky (2), Cornaghan scored tries, Craig converting the two latter.
