A letter of appreciation was ordered to 'be sent to Mr. Harcourt. It was decided to grant the Muritai Tennis Club a rebate of half its rates. The headmaster of the Muritai School asked whether there was any possibility of children’s bathing sheds ] being erect-, ed this summer, emphasising the need for them. The matter was referred to a committee. He also wrote regarding th» matter of tree-planting on the sea-i'ronf. Ratepayers wrote requesting the “speeding up” of the 8.10 a.m. boat, which they contended never left on time.. There were confirmed late-comers in Eastbourne. Late arrival at work meant the development of an “apologetic manner,” which was not a good trait lot ieaidents of Eastbourne. “It’s a pity,” said the Mayor, biu the boat is usually fairly punctual. ••(.an the passengers be loaded in the. time?” asked a councillor, adding that he was a late-comer and always took advantage of the delay. The boat usually left at about 8.15 a.m. It was decided to have the- matter remedied as far as possible.
