September 25, 5.5 p.m.) < Sydney, September 25. No New Zealand horses ran at the Hawkesbury races. The results threw little light on the forthcoming Randwick spring meeting,—Press Assn. NOTES AND COMMENTS — By Glencoe. Those journeying to the Otaki meeting to-dav will have their choice of two special excursion trains. The fine weather of last week has left the track in perfect order end the going will bp on the fast side to-day. Racing will commence at 11.30 am. with the Maiden Plate, five furlongs. 'The racing he had at Marton and Fcilding should have sharpened up Ponache. and the Highdcn cast-off should do a lot better td-day. He will encounter strong opposition from Air. W. 11. Gaisford’s Solstice (Solferipo—Polymnia), and the local pair;_ Edendale and Hellenics, both. of whom have been galloping well at Trontham. In the Pink is a horse with a. big reputation at Blenheim. 5 The Dominion Day Handicap, one mile, is for hacks, „/id has filled better than was the case i" nrevious years. The , favourite may be Clesanto. who showed winning form at Wanganui on Thurs- : day. Siberian-stays well and is seasoned with Teeing. I The Hack and Hunters’ Steeples has drawn a field of n dozen. Favouritism will be divided between To Tea, Ore Ore, and Kurapai. The two last-named are both hotter for the racing they have done lately. Master Boris raced • welt i in much better class nl: Ricoarton, and , if he ha s boon sufficiently schooled over brush fences he should have an, unde- , nmblo chance to-day. The big handicap:’ may find Kurush : and Dainty Step short, of n. race, al- . though the pair have been doing a. lot of galloping nt Trantham. Marton form points to Verbosity, who trees we]l on top of the ground. Flight Commander is a greatly improved horse in appearances, : but Kilgoiir and Esperance may not be , ready. Printemps has his Feilding form ’ to recommend him and has a nice light weight. 1 MeresnnTa will -be favourite in the ■ Stewards’ Hack Handicap, in which the ] Absurd gelding will have to shoulder a penalty for his "Wanganui victory.. Tn j the Pink will probably contestahis - event ns well as the Maiden, and Jim. form in the'opening event jyill give a’line as to hi= chances later in the <lay. Sunart “will make his reappearance in nublio in the Flying Handicap, land though* he may not be quite ready he is sure to give n. good account or himself. Birkle won decisively nt Marton and will he well in the market to-day. as he has been galloping very freely at Awa- ■ punt. Astinomo generally r.-feos well on , this course, and should be the best of the local division. t Three of the Trentham contingent, in ( Mllltaire. Bitters, and T.a Pnlomn, are ( nt the bond of the handicap in >e Hack Welter and thev may snipply the dividends. Th“ b-st of the light-weights . is Notnwede, who showed fan’ form at ( Marton. i Tim Onen Wolfer has eleven horses on- ] gaged. D is not a strong field, and if , Sir Fanciful is back tn hm flat form ( ho should bo capable of loading - o - ° h Molvneniix (Dennbo-Perlo d’Ork who ! Loyal Irish was installed a good favourite for the Spring Handicap at the Tattorsalls Club meeting, but could only finish in eighth position. He is reported" to have met with considerable interference in the running.
