We are deeply grateful for tho response to our request, and many of our members recall with great satisfaction the impressive sermons and references made in the different churches on September 26 last to the pioneers and early settlers. We again solicit your sympathy and co-operation on Sunday, September 25, the Sunday nearest Dominion Day. "The suggestion was made by one of our leading Church dignitarieq, that this day should lie a national thanksgiving day. In view of the sympathy and support received last year, and ornnions expressed by ehnrenmen of all denominations, we humbly venture to forward this suggestion to the Churches throughout New'Zealand, with the hope and timst that thin should for all time be observed ns a national thanksgiving day. We need only mention that Dominion Day (or the Sunday nearest thereto) is comsidened a most appropriate day. firstly from the fact that it is the first national dav we have, and seeondlv. that it marked an important period in our existence, and ope that deserves all thankfulness and praise.” __________
