GRADING OF TEACHERS
WORK OF APPEAL BOARD. Grading of teachers was a matter that was discussed at this week's meeting of the Wellington Educational Institute. Statements were received on the subject from a special committee set up, and from Air. J. Caughley (Director of Education). Mr. Caughley referred to ihe old and new systems of marking, and said that he was satisfied that with the information now in hand and with the inspectors’ experience of the new scale of marks it could be practically guaranteed that the next grading list would show the uniform standard of grading to be as reasonable as anyone could expect. It was hoped that the new list might be published in March of next J' ear - The following ''"table was presented showing the result of the work of the Teachers’ Appeal Board: —
The institute passed.a vote of thanks to Mr. Caughley for the interest he hud shown in the . matter. The special committee was also thanked for its report.
