SHOOTING AFFRAY IN HOTEL
• 4» CHARGE dr ATTEMPTED MURDER. By Triegrraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, September 15. A Shooting affray, xvhich occurred last night at the Springston Hotel, when Bxi rtholomexv., M'Evedy, a Southbridge farmer, xvas wounded in tho left wrist and thigh, resulted in the arrest of Jarnos Scott Main, ja. ranger employed by the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society. It is stated that the shooting occurred during an attempt to wrest a revolver from Alain’s possession. Three shots xvere fired, two hitting M'Evedy and the third wounding another man in the hand. The third man has not yet been discovered by the police. • Accused appeared before the Court this morning on a charge of attempted murder, and was remanded for five days.
