MANAWATU AMATEUR. C”AMPIONSHIPS. / , Prom Our Own Correspondent l. Palmerston North, September 13. The Manawatu .Boxing Association’s amateur championships were concluded last night, and resulted in a much better display of the fistic art than on the previous Evening. There was a much larger attendance. The results were as under:— Bantams.—This championship was won by T. Mahoney (Palmerston North), who easily defeated F. Price (Feilding). Feather-weights.—G. Bonetti (Marton) and D. Clinton (Palmerston North) had a willing go for the first two rounds, but in the third round the Marton man proved too good for his opponent and won on points. Light-weights.—B. O’Keefe (Palmerston North) proved too much for Butler (Palmerston North), and abandoned the match in the second round. In the final, O’Keefe beat Storrick (Napier) after a good bout. Welter-weights.—O’Keefe (9st. 131 b.), who had won in the previous,class, met Bob Price (Feilding), lOst. 41b., and in spite of the difference in weight proved too clever for the heavier man. Middle-weights.—C. Knight (Feilding) met J. O’Keefe (Palmerston North) and had ari easy win.
