"The present indications all point to tho conclusion that sheepowners, speaking generally, will have no difficulty in obtaining; all the labour required," eaid Mr. Nicholson, secretary of the Canterbury Sheepowners’. Fitter and Sons, London. offered' two challenge cups for lambs and tegs at the annual show; the lambs not to exceed '42lb. in weight, to be sent for sale to Henry S'- Fitter and Sons, and the prizes to be' awarded on their judgment.—The offer was accepted. The yardings at .to-day’s Addington market were again "large, and there was slight lowering of both beef and mutton values. There was no freezing competition for mutton. Store Sheep.—A small yarding, and slightly improved competition, there being a better clearance than for some sales. Forward 4 and 6-tooth wethers, 15s. Gd.; two-tooth wethers, 10s: to 10s. 6d.; cull two-tooth wethers, 95.; fourtooth halfbred wethers, Us. Gd.; mixed sex hoggets, ss. lOd. to 9s. Id.; I wether hoggets, 6s.‘to Bs. -7d.; cull hoggets, 15.5 four, six' and eight-tooth ewes, in lamb, 13s. 9d. to 15s. 3d.; failing-mouth ewes, with lambs, Gs. to 7s. (all counted). Fat Sheep.—There was an over-supply. Values were Is. to Is. Gd. easier, and a good proportion of the wethters sold at 3d. per lb. Extra prime wethers, 225. Gd. to 255. Gd.; prime, 17s. 9d. to 21s. Spring Lambs —Sixty were sent forward, and'sold at from. 20s. to 335. Fat ’ Cattle.'—The quality 1 was not so good as recently. The market opened at last week’s rates, but fell away towards the close, values being down from 15s. to 20s. per head for secondary beef.. Vealers.—A small entry ’of indifferent quality. Runners, £5 11s.; good vpalers, £3 7s. 6d. to £-1 155.; medium, £2 Bs. to £3; small calves, ss. to 225. 6d.

Store Cattle.—A lifeless market, there being few buyers for tho indifferent stores sent forward. A pen of three-year-old steers brought. £B. Dairy Cows.—An exceptionally big yarding, mostly of low-conditioned and indifferent' milking quality animals. For good springers the market was slightly easier than recently, but it was decidedly so. for mediocrities. Extra good springing heifers, £l9; good second and third cal vers, £8 to £IG; medium, £5 to £7; medium good springing heifers, £7; old cows, 355.' Fat Pigs.—The activity of tho last few sales was scarcely maintained to-day. Choppers, £5 to £7; light baconers, £4 15b. to £5 55.; heavy, £5 15s. to £6 10s. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE By Telegranh—Press Association. Dunedin, September 14. Sheep and cattle were in full supply at tho Burnside sales to-day, and both classes were of good quality. Prices were o. good deal easier. Pigs were only ii/moderate supply, and sold readily at cut-rent prices. Fat Cattle.—A large yarding of failquality, numbering 211 head. The sale opened at prices slightly easier than those which ruled at last week’s sale, nind fjwingl 'Io the 'largb elupply easing tendency became more pronounced as the salo advanced. Tho decline was 15s. to 20s. per head compared with last week, which is a reduction in values of from 50s. to 755. per head in three sales. Primo heifers realised £l3 to £l4 155.; medium, difl 10s. to £l2; light and aged, £7 upward*. Sheep.—A largo yarding, numboring 3260 head. The quality was much above the average. Tho demand was confined to tho trade, (together with a small number of outside buyers. Lower prices prevailed generally. Prime heavy-weight wethers were 2s. per head lees, while light-weight sheep were Ist. per head below last week’s ruling rates. Primo wether mutton was worth 3{d. per lb.; ewe mutton, 3d. Extra prime heavyweight wethers realised from 265. fid. to 275. 3d.; prime, 225. to 255. 9d.; medium, 17s. 6d. to 215.; light and unfinished sorts, from 15s. upwards. Only a small

number of ewes were offered. Prime ewes realised from IGs. Gd. to 18s. 3d.; medium, 13s. Gd. to 15s. Gd.,- light and aged, from Ils. upwards There were a few pens of hoggets of medium quality. These were sold at values ranging from Ils. to 18s. 3d. per head. Store Cattle.—About 150 head were offered, the quality being mixed. Young and backward cattle met with a poordemand, while forward three 'and four-year-old teteers of good breeding and colour sold fairly well at prices ranging from £9 7e. to £lO per head. Good young cows, in full milk or coming near to profit, were eagerly competed for, and high prices were realised. Pigs.—A medium yarding, composed of various sorts. AU were sold under keen competition. Prices on the whole were a fraction dearer thxn last week. Best baconers realised from Bd. to 9d. pci- lb. ,- and best porkers, from BJd. to 9d. per lb.
