SURVIVING PARTNER DECLARED BANKRUPT.

By Telegraph—Press Association. ,r Auckland, September 14. ‘ At a. meeting if clients and creditors of Hammond and Cracknell, solicitors, held on September 1, at which eighty persona were present, Arthur Cracknell, surviving partner, stated that the firm s liabilities were £45,000 and the assets between £25.000 and .£30.000. This statement was repeated to Mr. Justice Adams in tho Supreme Court to-day by David Kay, land agent, giving evidence in support of his petition to have Cracknell adjudicated! bankrupt. There Was no appearance on behalf of the debtor. Kay deposed to a cheauo he had received from the firm having been dishonoured, to the issue of n writ and judgment being obtained a few hours before Hammond died. At the creditors’ meeting, Cracknell stated that he joined the- firm in 1914. Cracknell’s solicitor then stated that the firm was insolvent. His Honour mado an order adjudicating the debtor bankrupt. •
