SPRINGBOK CARNIVAL
Arrangements are well in hand for the swimming carnival, to bo held in the Tepid Baths this evening, in honour of the South African visitors. The manager and members of the team will be present, and the programme will include a race for the Springboks, and it is hoped that they will be able to compete. The carnival will be under the patronage and in the presence of Their Excellencies -the Governor-General and Lady Jellicoe. The programme is a varied ope, and will include a number of comic events. The blue riband race will be the ICO yards Springbok championship for local champions. Each competitor will wear the Springbok colours as a. compliment to the visitors! After this race, Mr. G. H. Bennett, manager of the South Africans, will present medals to the winner's. Other events of interest will be the 33 1-3 yards ladies’ ■ handicap, and a Jewel relay race. Mr. C. Lansdown, who holds certificates and medals for saving life, will give an exhibition of fancy swimming. Tho Boys’ Brass Band and Institute Orchestra will render a programme of music, and the 17th Company Institute Cadets will form a guard of honour. Reserved seats may bo booked nt Mr. N. Perry's, Manners Street, until 12 noon on Monday, and afterwards at tho Institute Telephone No. 20 —962. Tho doors will bo open at 6.45, and no reserved tickets will be sold after 7.15.
