IRISH QUESTION
RESTORATION OF FORMER STATUS URGED VIEWS OF LORD DUNRAVEN fly Telegraph—Pres. Association-Copyright London, September 11. Lord Dunraven, in a letter to "The Vimes," urges that the restoration of the former status of the Kingdom of Ireland under the British Crown is preferable to Dominion status, which politically expresses the material growth of the Empire, but does not meet Ireland’s case, which was never a colony, and therefore not an Imperial entity. On tho other hand, Ireland has ever protested against the deprivation of her former status of a kingdom and constitution Lord Dunraven thinks that the Sinn Fein’s acknowledgment that the two islands are closely linked by physical and historical acts .would make for satisfactory arrangements. These links aro not difficult of attainment; and would meet some of th© idealist objections to the present proposals.—" The Times." A BRAVE POSTMISTRESS PUTS FOUR TO FLIGHT. , London, September 10. Four armed men entered the Post OfJico in North Queen Street. Belfast] and shouted, "Hands lip!” Tho postmistress seized and throw inkstands at» tho heads of the men, causing them to flee precipi-tately.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
