KARORI AFFAIRS

DISTRICT PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION. A well-attended meeting of the Karori Progressive Association was held on I'nday night, when Mr. W. T. Hildreth occupied tho chair. A letter was received from the Gas Company stating that arrangements had been made for a thorough canvas of the district to ascertain the probable inducement for an extension of the gas main to Karori. ~ , ~ The Town Clerk wrote stating that tlio necessary surveys in connection with tho drainage of the greater portion of Karori had 'been made, and the line of levels of sewers determined upon. Tho drainage work, however, could not be put in hand until a proper water supply was first obtained. In connection with the water supply, the Town Clerk pointed out that it would be necessary for residents of Karon to approve of a loan to enable tho work to bo carried out. Tho council would at a later date proceed with the loan proposals. An offer from Mr. W. M. Pago to provide a public entertainment under tho auspices of the association was accepted. Dr. Platts Mills and Mrs. W. 1 . Hildreth undertook to provide a second entertainment. „ A resolution was carried that no action be taken in joining the proposed Civic League unitl further information was obtained.
