AUSTRALIA’S EFFORTS TO DEVELOP TRADE.
(Rec. July 23, 5.5 p.m.) Peking, July 22.
Tho Australian Trade Commissioner, Mr. E. S. Little, addressed business men at. the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce on tho subject of the prospects of the development of Chino-Australian trade. He said that Australia now seriously intended to enter the China market. The first requisite was an improvement in the means of communication. Steamship companies were prepared to start direct sailings from Australia to China provided sufficient cargo was offering. The Commissioner described the wide range of Australian exportable products, of which a comprehensive display of samples was exhibited in the chamber nnd attracted tho close attention of those present.—Reuter.
