MR. MASSEY CONFERS WITH SHIPOWNERS. (Rec. July 12, 11.35 .p.m.) London, July 11Mr. Massev had a conference with New Zealand shipowners at the Hotel Cecil, to consider a reduction of freights. Sir James Allen was present, also representatives of the Shaw, Savill. New Zealand Shipping Company, the Commonwealth, Dominion, and other lines. The producers included Messrs. Elgar, Riddiford, Bell, and Tripp (Wellington), Mnkgill and Long (Auckland). Dickie (Taranaki). Vavasour (Marlborough), Pharazyn and Campbell (Hawke’s Bay). Air. Massev and Sir Janies Allen pointful out that owing to the toll in prices the cost of transport frequently left exporters without a profit, and sometimes actual losers. A small committee was appointed to inquire and report.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
