TRIBUTE TO MR. MASSEY
COMPLIMENTARY REFERENCES GF ENGLISH PRESS NEW ZEALAND’S WAR EFFORT By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. July 12, 7.30 p.m.) London, July 11. "The Times” makes a complimentary reference to Mr. Massey’s tenth anniversary of accession to office. The paper eavs he ■ has ever been a determined fighter, always pledging the energy and interests of the State in the best service of the Empire. The article eulogises the whole-hearted manner in which Mr. Massey urged the people of New Zealand to throw in the full weight of thoii- patriotism and resources into the Allies’ fight for world freedom. "There was not a moment’s hesitation on his part in guaranteeing the practical patriotism of New Zealand on behalf of the Empire.” The article also refers eulogistically to New Zealand’s war effort, giving statistics of its contribution in men, and adds a tribute to Mr. Massey’s consistent attitude regarding the War Cabinet and his efforts in favour of Imperial preference, and records his useful work at the Peace Conference.
