AMERICAN BANK FAILURES
FORMER PRESIDENT SURRENDERS TO AUTHORITIES. Seattle, July 7. J. E. Chilborg, who bought the wooden vessels built in the United States on account of tho Australian Government, and later failed to pay the instalments, has surrendered io the authorities in connection with the failure of the Scandinavian nnd American banks at Tacoma and Seattle. Five indictments charge Chilbcrg with making excessive loans to himself and one director of the Tacoma Bank, of which Chil'berg was formerly president.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
