REVISED PICTON-NELSON SERVICE. Owing to the falling-off of traffic at the closo of tho summer season the U.S.B. Company found it necessary to curtail tho service between Wellington and Nelson to the extent of withdrawing the Arahura, from that running, and the Mapourika has since been the only passenger vessel of tho company employed in the Welllng-ton-Picton-Nelson trade. From May onwards, however, doubtless owing to the present economic depression, the number of passengers and the amount of cargo carried by the Mapourika. between Wellington aud Nelson has fallen to such an extent that tho company has reluctantly been again obliged to .rearrange the rimetoblc running 1 , find until further notice the Mapourika’g ordinary trip on Wednesday® hence to Nelson, via. Picton. will be rancelled On Wednesdays the vessel will proceed from Wellington to Picton only, leaving here at noon, and Picton for y ellington on the return trip.on Thursday, at 12.30 p.m. Tills arrangement wIH not interfere with the Mapourika s ordinary trips on Mondays and Fridays thence to Nelson, and it is hom'd that conditions will ero lone show sufficient improvement to justify the company in reverting to th. usual time-table under "hich three voyages from Wellington to Nelson, via Pi£ ton and vice versa were made in each week.
