HUTT RIVER BOARD
A meeting of tho Hutt River Board was held on Wednesday, tho chairman (Mr. W. T: Strand) presiding. There were also prosent Messrs. J. Brasell, J, Mitchell, and S. Clendon. An application by Air. Goff for reduction in a rent was refused on the ground that tho agreement would not permit of that being done. It was also decided not to accede to the request of D. Andrews. shingle merchant, for a rebate on tho royalties charged him for shingio. It was decided to inaugurate a treeplanting scheme, and also to make an endeavour to beautify tho river bank. Members intend on Saturday to visit the where it is proposed to plant 500 bluegums and 1000 pines. Tho clerk (Mr. .T. D. Avery) reported that tho results of the new shingle business, which was recently initiated, were proving highly satisfactory.
