CONSIDERATION OF ESTIMATES POSTPONED. After sitting for half an hour in committee at the 'conclusion of a long debate on the city’s finances, last evening the City Council decided to postpone the consideration of the estimates until Monday evening, when a special meeting will be held for that purpose. In connection with the rates, ’he klavbr stated that the statement given publicly to that the rates would to increased by 30 per cent, was absolutely incorrect. As a matter of fact, in intiiiv cases the increases were very small, mid there were cases, in the city and suburbs. where tho rates on the new valuations) actually registered a decrease.
