MUNICIPAL ELECTORS

HATAITAI ASSOCIATION MEETS. The eleventh annual meeting of the Ilataitai. Municipal Electors’ Association was held hist evening. The president, Mr. A. L. Hunt, was in tho chair, and there was a moderate attendance of residents.

In moving tho adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, the chairman stated that plans were being prepared for additions to the Hataitai School, and he ventured to hope that as time went on that they would see old boys’ and girls' associations formed in connection with the school. He suggested with respect to the tunnel that it was desirable that steps should be taken to plan, ahead, and at least tho site of the proposed tunnel should be selected now. The site selected by Mr. Leslie Reynolds was about the best, and at <inv rate if the site wag to be near the Boys College, it was desirable that the entrance to the tunnel should be marked out before the site of the Girls' College was laid out. This was the time to get busv in planning, so that there would be no waste of public money. Ho said he was pleased to see how many residents were caring for the strip of land on the outside of their front fences. This was excellent, as it tended to beautify the streets. He sugested that they should plant trees in some of the corners nnd awkwardly-shaped spots He then referred to the progress made by Hataitai during Hie eleven years the association had been in existence. There were then about 70 or 80 houses in Hataitai, and now he believed there must be fully 800. Mr. Hunt stated that ho had been president of the association since its inception, and ho thought it was time that somebody else took up the duties.
