KIRKWOOD SUFFERING FROM SPRAINED WRIST. (Rec. June 8. 5.5 p.m.) London, June 7. In the qualifying round at Gleneagles there are 113 competitors, of whom 16 are to qualify. They played a round apiece on the -King’s course of 18 holes and tho Queen’s course of 9 holes. The Americans were outclassed. Havers went round in 31. Ockenden, Ray, and Braid 32, Kirkwood and Mitchell 34. Massy 36, Duncan, Taylor, and East 37 over the Queen’s. Ockenden, Ray, and Vardon did i-> : Massy 74, Braid and Havers 75, Kirk- , wood 76, and Mitchell 77 over the King's. Ockenden and Ray are lending, with Havers third, Braid sixth, Vardon seventh, Kirkwood thirteenth, and Massy fourteenth. . . Kirkwood had difficulty with his loug shots owing to a sprained wrist.
