BOXING
COOK BEATS CURPHY ON POINTS* (Roc. April 26, 5.5 p.m.) London, April 26. The National Sporting Club was tho attendance including the Australian cricketers, when Jack Curphy, of Salford, met George Cook (Australia) in a twenty-round bout for *£Boo. The Australian was at a disadvantage in regard to both height and reach, but was anxious to got to work. He rushed in repeatedly in the early rounds, when Curphy tried to box him at arm’s length, but Cook would have, none of it. By the third round Curphy was more used to Cook’s rushes. Cook got n nasty one on Curphy's ribs, but the latter retaliated with a hard blow to the point. ~ Cook was going strong at the end of the fourth round, and during the fifth gave Curphy little chance of showing his boxing abilities. Curphy, In the sixth round, got a right swing to Cook’s chin, the latter replying with a left jab to the ribs. At tho end of twenty rounds Cook got the verdict on points.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
