INQUIRY INTO OPERATIONS
(Rec. April 26, 10.15 p.m.) Sydney, April 26 The commission appointed to Inquire into the operations nt the Cockatoo Island dockyard has commenced the taking of evidence. Commodore Edwards, who is in charge of tho naval establishments, gave evidence that the recent dismissals at tho island were not duo to lack of work, but to shortage of funds. There was sufficient work at Cockatoo Island to employ all the men recently dispensed with.—Press Assn.
