SECOND ADVENT CONFERENCE
The meetings in connection with the Second' Advent Conference were continued throughout Saturday and Sunday in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. The Rev, W. G. Williams, 8.A., of Wanganui, presided. On. Saturday evening- the Rev . W. Lamb, ot Sydney, gave an address on ‘‘The Miracle 01 History—the Jew " of Yesterday, To-day, ami To-morrow.” 'He eaid that the most significant movement in the world’s lite of to-day was that which had to do with the .Jewish race. The Zionist emissary 'had said at a meeting of commercial men in Sydney that when Jerusalem was taken the great war was virtually at an end. Jerusalem had more to do with the beginning of the war than most people Knew. The Jewish'nation were a living testimony to the reality of the Bible. It was the only nation of which we had the complete history from its beginning, and of which we knew the future. God had promised to them in the person of Abraham the land from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates. His promise was not yet completely fulfilled, but since the Zionist movement started thirty years ago more Jews had returned to Jerusalem than after Mho first captivity. Scattered among all nations, down-trod-den and oppressed as foretold, for thoir disobedience, reduced in numbers to 100,000 at the ’beginning of the nineteenth century, they were now fifteen million strong. They occupied commanding positions everywhere. The Governor of Palestine was a Jew, the Lord Chief Justice of England was a Jew, the Gov-ernor-General of India was a Jew, the leaders of modern finance were Jews. They were to bo found at the head of modern commerce ‘and the great educational movements in Britain and the United States, and they were at the head of the Bolshevik movement, for it was Karl Marx who gave the world that philosophy which had led Russia into its awful position of tragedy and misery. Presently the world would discover how much the Jew had to do with those mighty movements that were now in operation and in evidence and that would not culminate until Christ appealed mi glory.
