Tho annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Drapers and Clothiers, pitting under the presidency of Mr. J. R. Rendell (Auckland), continued its deliberations to-day. A remit that the Government be asked to institute a postage cash-on-delivery system in New Zealand was refereed back to ihe local associations for further consideration.
A discussion on what was regarded as tho extensive evil of discount-giving led to the following resolution being carried: "That the giving of discounts and th<) amount of the same is a matter demanding immediate attention and revision."
On a remit relating to trade information as published in the New Zealand Press and newspaper advertising charges, fhe opinion of the conference was that access to. chartered accountants’ circulation edrtifioates should bo afforded to advertisers buying space at a continually increasing charge. There was a discussion on ttie Board of Trade Act and certain alleged irregularities of its administration. A. delegate stated that one tribunal had persistently attacked one firm by means of upwards of 20 investigations. The matter of schemes of profit-shar-ing among employees was also extensively discussed. For the evening session fllie subject was "Tariff Revision." on which tonic Air. E. IT. Wyles (Christchurch) spoke from the tariff policy standpoint of Imperial unity within the British Empire.
