YORSTON DIVORCE CASE
VERDICT FOR PETITIONER
After a three days’ hearing the Yorston divorce case was concluded yesterday before His Honour Mr. Justice Chapman and a jury of tweive, John Walter Yorston receiving a verdict against Ida May Yorston on the gruond of desertion. The case had been before the Court on two previous occasions. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for the petitioner, and Mr. H. F. O’Leary represented the respondent. The father. of tho respondent, Denis Mulhane, denied that his daughter had deserted Yorston. He admitted having struck the petitioner, but had said nothing about it at the time, as lie did not think there was "anything In it.”
Further evidence was given by Walter Dinnie, handwriting expert, who described the letter, supposed to have been written “by a girl to Yoreton, as written in a disguised hand. Counsels’ addresses occupied most of tho afternoon.
Tn Summing up, His Honour said the case was one. in which the petitioner was required to prove all his allegations before he could obtain a decree. His Honour referred to the existence of a letter in which tho petitioner had expressed his ntliichment to another woman. After a retirement of over an hour, the jury announced its verdict, and a decree nisi was granted.
