TWO CITY CALLS. The Fire Brigade was called out at. 3.15 p.m. vesterday to 89 Todman Street, Brooklyn, to attend an outbreak of fire. The owner and occupier of the house is Air George Alexander Carver, but no one was nt home when the fire occurred, and the cause of the outbreak could not be ascertained. The blaze was suppressed after one room and contents had been damaged. The a •omit of the insmances was*not available yesterday. At about 11 a.in. yi+terday the P<-, tone Fire Brigade received a call to an outbreak of fire in a two-storied building in Nelson Street, owned and occupied by Mr. R. C. Kirk. Painters were at work burning the old paint off ehe exterior of the building, but at the time tile fire was discovered—smoke being seen issuing through the wails of the kitchen —they were having a spell at tho rear of the building. The brifjado was promptly on Vhe scene, the occupants and worstmen, in the meantime, having been at work as a bucket brigade. The outbreak was quelled after considerable damage had been done to the walls and lower and upper ceiling of the building. The roof also was damaged. The loss to the contents by- the lire, water, and smoko, is estimated to be well over £lOO, while the damage to the building is stated to be- somewhere in the vicinity of a like amount.

During the fire brigade’s operations, the driver of the engine, Mr. Woodward, in smhshing a window for the purpose of gaining enrianee to the building, cut his wrist severely. He was taken to Dr. Kerr-Hislop, where medi. cal attention was received.
