With a view to considering the test means by which the services of Aliss Slater, who is retiring after twenty-five years’ service, and Mr. J. H. Lynskey, who has teen connected-with education in the district for the past 20 j’earfi, and who recently received notice of his appointment to the headmastership of the Eketahuna District High School, should be suitably recognised by the citizens of Petone, a ‘largely-attended public meeting was held in the Mayor’s Room last even--lUThe Alayor (Air. AUEwan), who presided, referred in eulogistic terms to the services the two '.teachers had rendered the town in the matter of education, and stated that the success which had ’ attended the Technical School up to the present had-been due to the eftorts of Mr. Lynskey. Air. D. Af'.Kenzie (chairman of 4lie Petone District High School Committee) said that both teachers had rendered excellent services to the town.
