The Magistrate (Mr. F. K: Hunt, S.M.) said It was a humiliating position for the chief-dotec-tive to be placed in,- and that the Department should do something for its officers. He offered to adjourn the case for a month, but the chief-detective said that he did not wish to have the matter hanging over his head, and preferred that an order should be made.
