The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 7, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Meat.—Demand for English is limited, .market quiet. Average closing prices: Beef, Is. 5d.; mutton. Is. 9d.: lamb. 2s. No change in price for imported meat. Butter.—Supplies are decreasing, and prices avo firmer.- Average, English 9s. 6t1.. Irish Cheese—Poor demnnd. English unchanged at i£B 12s. to JEO 2s. Canadian spot. £1 12s, to £1 14s„ white; J!7 14s. to £7 18s., coloured. Quotations, c.i.f.. ,£7 9s. to £7 14=» Stock New Zealand on August 0, 17,831, against 9274 same time last year. Hemp.—Manila market quiet and steady; "J" grade July-September shipment sold .£O3 10s.; other a notations unaltered. Manila receipts January 1 to August 1, 6519,000, against 1137.000 same period last year. New Zealand.r'aiket continues dull, with no ohiiugii in prices.
