Christcliurch, August 11. Tho O.J.C. Winter Carnival .will bo advanced another stage to-morrow, when there ia every prospect of some liiirhclubb sport. Host interest will be centred in the National Hurdles, for which, us tho result of his form in the Jumpers' Flat Handicap, Kauri King will have plenty of supporters, with Lochclla also in biff demand. The latter was sent over a couple of hurdles this morning and fenced well. Kauri King will strip very well, and the opposition will find that ho is us forward iu condition as ever he has been. Racing will commence at 11 a.m. with the Woolrton Handicap, six furlongs. Tor* trix and Oossard will both he well fancied, but The Bobs may lie favourite. He is to be ridden by 'J; Olson, and it is ex-, pected that the distance will suit him. Bill Terry and Lawsuit are tho two best jumperß in the Hunt Club Cup. and tho pair may he prominent over tho concluding stages of the journey. There are ton acceptors in the Beaufort Steeplechase, hut they are not a flrst-claßs lot. Golden Prince is such a fast jumper,. and ho lias such a lot of pace, that ho may string tho field out very early. Onkleigh may be the best of the others, but it should be remembered that lie had a very hard race in the National Steeplechase. Walton, who u'ot a bad in the Avonhe.ld Handicap, but subsequently finished fast, may ho the best fancied in ■the Summer Handicap, which ia run over ;i mile .course. Sir Fanciful showed up well in the Winter Cup, and may be the best of tho others. Will Oakland, who was favourite for the Winter Cup. caught tho tapes in his mouth and was sent hack to last. Ho had been doing: high-class work in training, and may be favourite aeain to-day in the August Handicap. Killowen will have plenty of supporters, and so will Bon Spec. For the Spreydon Hurdles the «üblic muv \oio Btrou&l.v for Wild Pilgrim, who led for a loiijr way in the Junipers' Mat Handicap, and for the Islington Handicap Arch Saluta may he the beat b'acked.
