HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL

A meeting of tho Kutt County Council was held on Tuesday. Councillor P. Cooper presided. The report of the inspector stated tlint the tender of Hall and Tcmpleton, at £112, had been aeceptcd for the widening of tlie Paliautunui-Upper ilutt road. Twenty chains of metalling had been done at Pakuratahi, and eizht acctylene gas lamps hud been crectcd it Day's Bay. The matter of a, sanitary site nt Trentliam had not yet been decided npor, although two Bit cs wens under oiler. It was decided to ask the Public Works Department to erect tho Paraparaumu Post Oflico by day labour, as no tenders had been received for tlio work. It was decided to Etrike a general rate of ljd. in the pound, the saifle as was done last year. \ Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., wrote stating that it had boon dceided by tho Central Progress League to ask the l'rimo Minister and Minister of Public Works to receive deputations concerning the Faekakariki and Biniutalta deviations on August 19. Tho letter mentioned that v. very large deputation was coming from Wairarapa. Indeed, tho writer had been informed that a whole holiday would be declared there, and a special train would probably be provided to bring tho deputation to Wellington. Mr: Field stated that ho did not think it ncccssary to make such a deputation in tho case of the Paokakarikidoviatlon, but lie would like to see a- representative deputation. It was decided to ask as many as could to attend.
