The port at present is very busy. There is a large number of Bniall coastal vessels berthed at the wharves, whilo some ten overseas vessels are in port loading or discharging. As a result the labour offering is not sufficient, and a number of vessels have been delayed. Among these are the Marama, to sail on Saturday for San Francisco, and the Wangaratta, which was to have sailed yesterday for New Yo*k. KIA ORA UNABLE TO WORK. The Kin, Ora, which is at Gisborne, was unable to work yesterday morning owing to tho bad weather. She was unable to work on her arrival on Monday. KARAMEA FOR DUNEDIN. The 6.5. and A. liner Karamea is to leave on Friday for Dunedin. bhe will then-go on to Sydney. WAKGAIfATTA DELAYED. The Wangaratta was unable to clear port yesterday, but she is to sail at noon to-day for New York. THE HORORATA. The Hororata was to leave Wanganui last night. She is due here to-day and will sail finally about next Tuesday. R.M.S. MARAMA. Tho departure of the Marama for San Francißco has been delayed until 3 o'clock on Saturday. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. 6. J. Munn has joined the Maori as third engineer. Mr. W. Burns, Becond mate of the Kauri, has signed off the vessel's articles. Mr. H. Frith, second engineer of tho Maori, has left that vessel. Mr. P. The American schooner Wm. E. Burnham, which lett 'Wellington on July 12_ in ballast for Newcastle, arrived at the New South Wales port on July 28 in a disabled condition, and in tow of the steamer Mackarra. The schooner ran into heavy weather when some distance from the New South Wales coast; and :>ecamo disabled as a result of an accident to her steering gear. She was sighted off Cmpe Hawke on July 28 in a helpless condition, and was picked up eomo time later by the Mackarra, which was bound from Syduey to Queensland porta. The Government steamer Tutanckai is cxpccted to leave Wellington on Friday afternoon next for the Chathams, via Lyttelton. The Saikai Maru, at present unloading coal, will flail for Newcastle on Tuesday next. The Calm is to leave for Dunedin today, thence she goes to Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wanganui. ' The Lily is to sail at 5 p.m. to-day for Lyttelton. She is receiving cargo until 4 o'clock. The Whangape is to leaTe Auckland tomorrow with general cnigo, and is due here on Sunday. The Navua, due on Friday from Dunedin direct, will go on to Auckland dircct on Saturday. The Malnitia, which arrived at Auckland on Sunday from Walpolo Island, brought a cargo of -phosphates.
