MURDER CHARGE REDUCED TO MANSLAUGHTER

Auckland, August 10. _ , A_chargo of murdnring Douglas Piripi, or Phillips, nt Mokau, which was' made against a .Maori named Wiremu Peta, was reduced to one of manslaughter by the Grand Jury at the criminal sessions of tho Supreme Court. His Honour, ijx. reviewing the case, said that accused's story was that Piripi and ho got-iato jjrifls, Piripi attempted to throttle him, and during the _ struggle tliq gun, which belonged to Piripi, went off.
