Yesterday morning, from Southampton, the Rimutaka arrived in port early, and after inspection berthed at the King's Wharf shortly after 1 o'clock in tho afternoon. The voyage was without incident, only occasional heavy seas being met. Oalh were made at Newport News oud Jamaica, the vessel coming via the Panama Canal. Captain F. A. Hemming is still in command, and has with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr. A. B. Smith' date of the Ruuhine); second, Mr. P. W. Robinson (late of tho Ruapehu); third, Mr. F. P. Bißlcy (late of the Wiltshire); fourth, Mr. If. D. Freeman. Mr. D. M. Evans is chief steward, and Mr. E. M'Lean chief engineer. The Rimutaka will go on to Auckland at the end of tho week. NEW C. AND D. VESSEL. The new C. and D. steamer Port Curtis, which arrived from New York on Friday, brought a cargo of 16,400 .cases .of benzine, kerosene, and nuturpo, with general merchandise. Leaving New York on July 2, she came out via Panama, thence to Auckland direct, making a good passage except for heavy north-easterly weather when nearing the New Zealand coast. The new Bteamer has a gross tonnage of 8286. and was built by the Belfast firm of Workman, Clark and Co., and is engined with a set of Brown-Curtis double reduction geared turbines. Her overall dimensions are: 450.25 feet length, 58.38 feet team, and 29,1 feet depth. She has five holds for meat and general cargo, and develops a speed of just under 13 knots. After Auckland she will touch at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers, and will then cross the Taxman for Australian ports. MANUKA DUE TO-DAY. A radio message has been received from the Manuka, en route from Sydney, to the effect that she should make port at 4 o'clock this morning. It is probable that if she runs into bad weather her arrival will be delayed several hours. WAIMANA AT SUVA, The Waimana, which left London on June 29, arrived at Suva on August 8. The vessel will leave on August 17 in continuation of her voyage to Lyttelton, where she is due on August 23.

The S.S. and A. liner Pakeha is to sail for London, via Panama, on AugU6t 14. BLACKBALL COLLIERS. The Ngakuta is loading cement at Portland for Wellington, Wanganui, and New Plymouth. She is due to leave on Thursday, and- should arrive here at the beginning of next week. Tho Ngahere is to sail to-morrow for Greymouth. THE PORT DENLSON. The 0. and D. liner Port Deniaon ib at Lyttelton loading for Hull and London a largo quantity of meat, wool, grain, cheeae, tallow, and pelts. Her careo will be completed here, and she is to sail finally on AugUEt-25. From Lyttelton tho vcßael will take 87,000 carcaaaea of mutton, 75C0 bales of wool, 2400 casks of tallow, 3000 cases of preserved meat, 1500 crates df cheese, and 2000 sackß of grain and sundries. PORT OF WESTPORT RETURNS. During laat month 38 Bteamcrß entered tho 'port of Weßtport, and 36, representing 21,101 toDB, left the port. The coal output totalled 40,365 tons 18cwt. The export of timber totalled 127,702 aup. feet.

. THE HARUNA-SAN-MARU. The Jaipaneae'steamer Haruna-San-Mnru, which arrived at Auckland from Newcastle last week, left Newcastle on July 29, and experienced fine weather until August 1, when 'she ran into a S.W. gale. Tho vessel rolled aud laboured very heavily, shipping ' water fore and aft. No damage, however, was sustained. After discharging her cargo the Haruna-San-Maru will leave for Newcaßtle, where she will load another cargo of coal for either Wellington or Auckland. WANGARATTA SAILING TO-DAY. Owing to the wharveß being idle yeßterday the Wangaratta's departure for, New. York was postponed until to-day. MARAMA FOR SAN FRANCISCO/ The departure of the R.M.S. Marama for Ban Francisco has been postponed until Friday, - She was to have sailed a day earlier. LEITRIM DUE THURSDAY. v > Tho Leitrim is to ,lcave Auckland today, and should arrive here on Thurs-' day. THE NAVUA FOR AUCKLAND DIRECT. The Navua will leave Dunedin to-mor-row for Wellington direct. She iB duo on Friday, and will sail rn Saturday direct for Auckland. THE CANADIAN IMPORTER. The Canadian Government steamer Canadian Importer left Vancouver for Australia and New Zealand ports on August 4. She will discharge cargo at Sydney and Melbourne, and will then visit Wellington and Auckland in the'order named. SOMERSET AT LYTTELTON. The Somerset is loading at Lyttelton, her final port, 95,000 carcasses of mutton and 1600' casks of pelts and tallow, and will leave there about the end of the week for New York, via Panama. NORTHimBERLAND'S CARGO. One of tho largest cargoes that has been shipped from New York to Australia, for some years past is now being carried by tho A. and A. steamer Northumberland, which left Wellington on Saturday for Melbourne. The Roßamond, with general cargo, is to sail tomorrow for New Plyhiouth, Westport, and Greymouth.
