An interesting paper upon "Child Labour," in which comparisons were made between child labour in Great Britain and New Zealand with the accompanying conditions and evils, was read by Dr. Paterson. At its close the provisions of the present Infants Protection Act were read, together with a draft of the reforms which have been suggested by the Education Department. One point which met with the unanimous approval of the meeting wa9 that which proposed A limitation of the hours of child labour, and at the same time made pn> vision for continuous medical supervision of the children so long as they were engaged upon wage-earning work outside school hours. The following resolution was passed: "That this meeting of the Wellington Women Teachers' Association is strongly of opinion that no child under H years of age should be allowed to work more than two Knurs a day on any school day."
