An enjoyable match was contested by the above clubs on Saturday evening. Heavy, ruins in the Wairnrapa on 'Saturday morning looked like interfering with the. fixhiro. One car, however, mode the journey to Wellington, and several members came down by train. . This left only five players stranded in Masterton, but they were able to play by telegraph, thanks to the good ottiew cf the Superintendent of Telegraphs. The operating was in the capable hands of Messrs, George Clark (Wellington) and •N. Williams (Masterton). Messrs. A. E. Taylor, E. S. Taylor, and H. Douglas ■ actod as scrutineers at this end. Seventeen games were thus got off—oleven at 52 Cuba Street, one in Masterton, and five by telegraph (boards G, 7,11, U, and : 15). Prom this it will.jbc seen that the two hon, eecretaries, Messrs. S. Taylor (Wellington)' A. Clemas (Masterton) were successful in overcoming all difficulties created by-adverse weather conditions. Thero was an interval of half-an-hour for refreshments, during which •Mr. G. A. Jones (captain) returned thanks for the hospitality extended to the visitors, nnd "briefly stressed tho value of theso fraternal inter-club reunions. His remarks wore cordially endorsed on ■ behalf of the local club by Mr. W. MacKay (president). When play ceased at a late hour only two games were outstanding. At board 7 Riulknor (Wellington) was a, pawn up, but thero was a fair amount of play left in the position, and he therefore conceded the draw asked for by hig opponent, no objection being offered by the acting-captain (Kelling). A draw was als> agreed to at board 15, where Air. Gyles, sen., had three pawns for the minor piece given up. The score of tho , match is as follows :— Masterton. Wellington. Jones, G.
